Agnes Collis
In my approach to painting I strive to capture the simple beauty of life on Cape Cod. My compositions capture the changing energy of the ocean, which can transform from destructive turbulence one day to a sea that lures tranquility the next. The brilliant colors of the Cape, the reflected light and the simplicity of nature’s forms move me to explore and create altering rich visual experiences. This is my spirit in painting.
Capturing the simple beauty of life on Cape Cod, the minimalist compositions of Agnes Collis depict the changing energy of the ocean, the brilliant colors and reflected light of the sea. Rich visual experiences tumble from life lived, and then from the easel.

Returning to painting after a long absence in 1995, the artist settled into oil painting as her medium; with shore vistas-evoking both childhood summers at the New Jersey shore and decades of travel to the Cape--as her subject matter.

Refining her craft through workshops on the Cape with Anne Packard, Robert Cardinal, Rick Fleury and Christie Scheele, among others, Agnes has emerged as a landscape painter with a subtle, open aesthetic.

Splitting her time between her home in Wellfleet, Massachusetts overlooking sweeping dunes and the Atlantic and her other home in New Jersey, Agnes is currently exhibiting her work in both locales, with placement in private and corporate collections around the country.
